Clockhouse Singers

Wick Street Farm, East Sussex

Desgined by Angus Walker, a helpful member of LVC, the new website is up to date and gives information on our upcoming events

We are a small mixed group (currently 3 men and 10 women) that specialised in a cappella close-harmony classical and jazz. Our repertoire ranges from sophisticated jazz arrangements (Swingle, Puerling, Real Group) and tricky classical numbers by the likes of Copland and Whitacre , often in 8 parts.

We don't actually perform very frequently, the rehearsals being satisfying in their own right. Mostly we appear as guests in other choirs' concerts, and are always open to invitations!

Clockhouse Singers - Forest Row

The Clockhouse Singers rehearse in the morning because historically it was made up of parents dropping off their children at school at 8.30. At first it was a group singing class, but we got so good we became a choir... and now, several years later, we no longer rehearse at the school (in the Clockhouse) but at 10-12 every Thursday morning at Wick Street Farm, BN26 6TN.

Some examples of repertoire are: A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square - Manhatten Transfer; Celestine - Kirsty McColl; Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap; Hallelujah Chorus - Handel; Sleep - Eric Whitacre; Calme des Nuits - Saint-Saëns; Waltzing Matilda - Swingles; Words - The Real Group; I Got Rhythm; Java Jive; Teddy Bear's Picnic; Strange Fruit; Ain't Misbehavin'; Elgar part-songs; Copland.
